How to Prepare for a Tattoo Appointment?

So you have finally made up your mind to get your first tattoo? Let me be the first one to inform you that it’s going to be worth the pain. To finally turn your dream into reality, you first have to make up your mind and start preparing yourself for it.

Now that you have made up your mind, it’s time to prepare yourself to get your first tattoo done. Not sure what to do and what to avoid? Well, I’m here to help. Here’s how the tattoo expert would require you to prepare for the tattoo appointment;

Book an Appointment in Advance

The tattoo parlours are usually always full. Therefore if you do not want any delays, research well and book an appointment at a good tattoo shop in advance. Once the appointment is booked, you can finally start preparing yourself to get the first tattoo done.

Gear up by staying hydrated and getting a good night’s sleep

At Least two to three weeks before the due date, you have to start drinking enough water. It will improve the quality of your skin and prepare it for treatment. A day before the due date you are required to put aside all the distractions and get a good night’s sleep.

Wax or shave the area that is about to get tattooed

Remember! You can not show up for a tattoo appointment unshaved or unwaxed. The part of the body that is about to be tattooed should be clean, otherwise, you will be sent back. So, wax or shave the area. If you are planning to shave, do it two or three hours before the appointment. However, if you are going for waxing, it’s better to do it 24 hours before the appointment.

Take shower and exfoliate the area

Just before heading out, take shower, and use a quality exfoliator to exfoliate the area. Do not moisturize the area as it makes the job harder.

Take a proper meal

Showing up for a painful tattoo appointment empty stomach is also not a fine idea. You have to take a healthy, well-balanced meal before getting your tattoo done. The tattoo expert might take hours to get done with the job, you would have to starve otherwise.

Bring a source of entertainment with you

The whole process would be hours long and painful. Seeing a needle injecting ink into your skin would make it worse. So, you should take a source of entertainment with you. Do not go alone, take your friend, girlfriend/boyfriend, or a family member with you.

Get done with the routine tasks early, show up on time

Lastly, when the day arrives you either have to take a break from the routine activities or get done with the tasks early. To get the tattoo done, you have to show up on time as well. Otherwise, the tattoo expert, for all fair reasons, can decline the request.

In brief, to get your first tattoo, prepare yourself by booking an appointment in advance, staying hydrated, getting a good night’s sleep, waxing/shaving, exfoliating the area, and eating a proper meal.
