3 Tips For Getting Your First Pair Of Glasses

As you grow up, your personal style is likely to grow and evolve with you. Trends come and go, and many people find themselves drawn to certain styles that they tend to stick with for the remainder of their life.

But when your style is forced to change, like if you suddenly need to start wearing glasses, you may not know how this new accessory will fit with the style you’ve cultivated over the years. So to help you make this transition as seamlessly as possible, here are three tips for getting your first pair of glasses.

Work With Your Face Shape

To ensure that the glasses you pick will look great on you, one of the first things you’re going to want to consider is the shape of your face. Depending on what shape your face is, the shape and style of glasses that will generally look best on you will vary.

Kaleigh Fasanella, a contributor to Allure.com, shares that the most common face shapes are square, round, heart-shaped, and oval. In general, square-shaped faces look best with thinner framed glasses that are either round or cat-eye shaped. For round faces, squarer frames generally look the best. So before you go falling in love with a certain frame, make sure it looks great with your face shape.

Consider Colors

Not only will you have to pick a shape to the frames of your glasses, but you can also pick all types of colors for your glasses as well. When considering the color or colors you want to have your glasses, you should also think about the coloring of your skin, hair, and eyes as well.

According to Erinn Morgan, a contributor to All About Vision, the best color of glasses for you will be one that complements your natural coloring. In general, people are either “warm” or “cool” with their natural coloring. If your coloring is warm, try to stick with frames that are in the tan or red zone. And for cooler colors, darker shades in black, gray, and purples will look great.

Don’t Get Too Many Pairs With The Same Prescription

If you’re excited about getting your first pair of glasses and all the new looks you’re going to be able to have, you might want to get a plethora of glasses frames to try out. But if you’re at all worried about cost, you might want to just get a pair or two for now.

Laura Richards, a contributor to Reader’s Digest, shares that people’s prescriptions often change in a matter of months or years. Because of this, you’ll likely be needing to get new glasses before too long anyway, so wait to buy more frames that you need until you’ll also be needing new lenses, too.

If you’ll be getting your first pair of glasses soon, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you find some you’ll look amazing in.
